OUR HISTORY
The Central American Association of Breeders of Horses of Latin-American race
(Asoibero), is a non profit group of horse breeders; it has existed for the
past 18 years, established thanks to a small group of visionary breeders. Since
then the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica presented the keeping of
the Stud Book of the race to this association* (via the law decrees:
19400-MAG; 23685-MAG; 20972-MAG).
From the beginning the Asoibero association developed highly technical regulations
for the genealogical registry, competition as well as the Pattern of the Race.
It has been one of the Associations leading with significant technological
strength implemented in the use of microchips since its establishment, also
developing a specific and highly specialized software for the genealogical
registry and expositions; another example is this website promoting the services
of its breeders; in conjunction with an official multimedia DVD designed to
promote the race on a global scale.
Our equine race has already transcended our borders due to Asoibero being the
managing association of sister organizations in other countries such as Nicaragua,
Honduras and El Salvador.
At present our athletic horse boasting over 61 inches in height, energetic
and forceful diagonal trotting movements with a smooth rhythm, has made a strong
standing for itself regarding international markets of the pureblood show hunter
horses.
The races authorized for the Latin-American structure are: Costa Rican Step,
Peruvian, Pure Spaniard and Lusitano, each must completely satisfy the standards
of the Pattern of the Race as well as possess a 25 % minimum of Iberian blood.
